Business Insider reports that Sears chairman Eddie Lampert has reportedly won a bankruptcy auction to keep the company from liquidating.
Lampert's bid will keep about 400 stores open and retain 50,000 jobs.
Industry analysts believe a stripped down version of Sears will be better able to compete in 2019 retail market.
However, analysts remain extremely pessimistic about Sears future.
